I flew from Wisconsin back home to Seattle to my tenderly nurtured Christmas bulb in full bloom – truly a Christmas gift. (BTW, “tenderly nurtured” is a joke because I have a bad habit of killing indoor plants.)

There’s hope – a flower actually blooming inside the house! My green-thumb gift is with outdoor plants, from tomatoes to tulips.
Anyone who knows me knows I have a quite a green thumb OUTDOORS and a perfectly lousy one INDOORS. I can give you the name of any Northwest outdoor plant in Latin, but I didn’t even know this Christmas bulb was an amaryllis until someone saw it and told me.
That’s why these Christmas blooms are a Christmas miracle!
